I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge and celebrate today, November 11, Veterans Day. Today we celebrate with great gratitude all who have served or are currently serving in the armed forces. Today we give honor to whom it’s due–to all military veterans.
I am so grateful to live in a land where we’re free to worship the Lord and share His Gospel message. Freedom is never free. It always comes at a cost. The freedom we very much enjoy came at a tremendous price–it was bought and paid for by our veterans, past and present, making the ultimate sacrifice for their country and fellow citizens.
John 15:13 tells us, “Greater love has no one than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
Rather than treat today like an ordinary holiday, I encourage you to take time to pause, reflect and pray for our veterans and their families. Thank God for those he’s called to serve. Ask him to cover them with His hand of protection.
To those of you that hold the title of ‘veteran’, wherever you are placed, whatever position you hold or have held, you are highly esteemed and valued. May each of you feel honored, not just today…but every day! Thank you and may God bless you richly!
