A New York boy was being led through the swamps of Louisiana by his cousin. Nervously he asked, "Is it true that an alligator won't attack you if you
carry a flashlight?" The cousin smirked and replied, "Depends on how fast
ya carry the flashlight." I am continually amazed at what kids come up with
in their simplistic way of looking at life and living.
A little girl answered the phone in her house and a salesman said, " Little
girl, may I speak to your mother?" The little girl replied, "She's busy
right now." The salesman said, "OK honey how about your father?" The
little girl replied that he was busy too, so the salesman asked if she had
any older brothers or sisters. She told him she had one brother and one
sister. He asked to speak to one of them, but she said that they were busy
too. "Wow", the salesman observed, "everybody seems busy at your house. What are they all busy doing?" "Shhh," she replied, "they're all looking
for me".
A little girl told her dad, "I'm writing a report on how to bring peace to
the world". "That's a tall order," he responded. "Oh no," she said. "There are three of us working on it".
That's the reason Jesus was very sincere and genuine when He spoke of the
children of the world. He saw their genuine and humble approach to life and
living. He even warned, "except we come as little children" ourselves we
cannot come to an understanding to what it means to be a part of the Kingdom
of God. Our daughters and our son were saved at an early age and that was
because they came to us and desired to become a believer on their own. It
was so exciting to see
I cringe when I hear people who mean well but really misunderstand the
impact of what they are saying. When a church celebrates and baptizes
converts. Sometimes well meaning people will ask in a way that it really
matters who was baptized and if it was genuine or not by saying, "how many
of those who were baptized were adults?" By asking the question they are
basically saying it is more credible if an adult is baptized versus a child. The better question is, which would be better in a perfect world, a child
coming to Christ and being saved and living for God or an adult who comes to
Christ in his later years say 40 or 50 years of age? The obvious answer is
a child is the one who we must reach. It is a life saved from the perils of
sinful living. Simple wisdom is what that is.
