Are we in the End Times?

First of all I will admit my question is nothing new.  In fact the disciples were preparing themselves for Christ’s return and anticipating He would return in their lifetime.  After over 20 centuries since Jesus left this world following His Resurrection it is still on the minds and thoughts of believers who take the Bible literally.  If you don’t believe the Bible then you are not concerned most likely with what is happening in the world in the light of Bible prophecy.

Unfortunately, there have been those who have taught and preached something other than what the Bible says as to the return of Christ.  For example: People have come forward claiming to be the Christ.  Recently, a group with the numbers 666 tattooed in their necks and body have said they are following their leader, who is the Christ.  Then there are those who have disobeyed the Scriptural mandate of predicting the actual date when Christ will return.  You may be old enough to remember the year 1988 September 14.  I do.  I was a Pastor in Jonesboro, Ga.  On that Sunday our church was filled to capacity because of all the publicity and hype centered around the book.  Of course, nothing happened, not because He couldn’t have come that day, but because it was obviously in the Father’s plan for Him not to.  When we think about the End times and is this the day when Jesus is coming back there are a couple of things we need to remember.  First, accept it or not He is returning according to the Bible and not just in an isolated passage but throughout the Scripture prophecy is being fulfilled from the rebirth of Israel as a nation in 1948 to the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem to the rise of the “Babylonian” empire which is modern day Iraq.  Now, we see Iran in a standoff with Britain over sailors in “their” waters.  I know what some are saying, we’ve heard all this before but…there is something noteworthy that should be considered.  And before I give that to you do not mistake my column as a warning that He is coming today or tomorrow or the next day.  He can!  But that is up to Him and the Father.

The prophetic landscape is being flooded with more and more Scriptures being fulfilled right in front of our eyes.   I would lose my creditability to try and predict a date or even pretend to know when Christ is returning.  But I will say it is closer today than it was yesterday and that is not just a play on words.   The greatest sign that I see as a mark that His return is imminent is the conversions in other countries around the world even in Muslim countries and the destabilization of Bible Christianity in this country.   I have searched the Bible and read the prophetic authors and none of them can find what appears to be the United States in Bible prophecy.  Not that it isn’t there but that it is not mentioned as is other countries.  I wonder will we have wasted away in religious anarchy that there is no usefulness for our country in the light of Bible prophecy.  I don’t know but I do know that the Bible says that the nation that forgets God will be turned into Hell.  Psalm 9:17 We seem to be living in our country what I call a bigger and better mentality.  If it is bigger and better than something I can find on television I will seek the Lord.  If it is worth my time I will try to fit it in to my schedule.  I just want to be clear, Jesus is coming and it very possibly could be today and if it isn’t today it could be the next.  Why?  The prophecies of the Bible, the “I told you so” things are coming to pass.  The only thing keeping the Lord God from sending Christ to the tip of the Eastern sky even as we speak is His supreme Love and Grace He is extending to every person who would come to God through Him.

Glenn Beck and his Headline News talk show Saturday evening March 31, 2007 had the authors of the left behind series on His program.  Obviously Glenn Beck is a believer, in fact he said as much.  His entire national syndicated talk show and news program was dedicated to this subject of the end of time as we know.  What will happen next?  What has already happened to make us think He is returning soon.?  I watched the program in awe that the entire truth of the Gospel and the message of don’t wait before it is too late was preached and taught right there on CNN.

The Bible says believers will meet the Lord in the air and we will forever be in the presence of Holy God.  I Thessalonians 4:13-18

I believe we are living in the waning moments of the return of Christ.  I am not predicting like a weatherman but I am forecasting according to the truth of Scripture.  It won’t be long!
