When to go and when to stop…..

Someone has well said, “ Smart is when you believe only half of what you hear.  Brilliant is when you know which half to believe.”  I look at the things that are happening in my immediate world and wonder should I go or should I stop.  Do I look for an open door or do I stop and wait on God.  I hear people say I am waiting on God, when it seems to me, God has already spoken and he is waiting on them to “Go”.

I know and you know that no matter if you sense you are led to go or to stop and wait.  You will have your critics.  The galleries are full of critics  They play no ball.  They fight no fights.   They make no mistakes because they attempt nothing.  Down in the arena are the doers.  They make many mistakes because they attempt many things.  Ford forgot to put reverse gear on his first automobile and then went on to revolutionlize the automobile industry with the Model T.  The man who makes no mistakes lacks the boldness and the pursuit of adventure.  He never tries anything new.  He is a brake on the wheels of Progress.  (Graham, Texas Rotary).  I can tell you as I turn 50 this year I don’t have one inkling in my spirit to sit and rest and wait for Jesus to come.  I certainly don’t believe as some people do, and that is, go out and charge things and max out the credit cards believing Jesus is coming soon so it won’t matter.  That is foolish.  We can attempt great things for God and still live in obedience and faith and wait on God to show us His next move.

George Burns said, “Fall in love with what you are going to do for a living.  To be able to get out of bed and do what you love to do for the rest of the day is beyond words.  I’d rather be a failure in something I love than be successful in something I hate."  I love what I do as a Pastor.  It isn’t always peaches and cream and easy and without it’s moments when it is a difficulty, but I still love and know this is where God has called me to serve until he calls me home.  It is so important to have people around you supporting and encouraging you along the way.  In our journey together we are in need of each other.  A real friend never gets in the way, unless you happen to be on the way down.-Evan Escar.

Unfortunately in the lives of many Christians and too many churches there is no closeness and fellowship to keep us motivated and going strong and confident and serving with a grateful heart.  The wonderful thing about the relationship we have in Christ is that we are part of a huge family and have a support system that is literally out of this world.  Sometimes we may want to lie down and just stop, but we can’t, we must keep going and trust the Lord is able to work through us and to cause us to prosper in spite of the circumstances that may engulf our very being.
